The plant garden
Nestled in the heart of the city, the Jardin des Plantes de Nantes has a surface area of 7 hectares with nearly 10,000 living species, 800 m² of greenhouses and no less than 75,000 flowers planted each year during the spring.
Created nearly 150 years ago and now labeled "Remarkable Garden", it is among the four largest botanical gardens in France.
The plant collections are constantly enriched to amaze young and old alike. The famous collection of camellias, unique in France, but also succulents, magnolias and tulip trees of Virginia.
A true international reference, its great beauty that endures throughout the seasons, offers magnificent shows that more than 2 million visitors come to admire each year. The Jardin des Plantes can be visited on your own or accompanied by a botanist (free guided tours).
